ESEA-O power rankings - June 12

Following week 2 matches (cp_metalworks), here are my updated power rankings.  We saw a couple high open teams die this week, another few roster changes, however as there were not a lot of matches between high open teams there are not as many ranking shuffles as I'm expecting for next week (cp_snakewater).

#1 - malicious activity

circa & aim
cody
crushing
xrod/dingo
geknaiir/dilent

They must have been worried about their odds at winning open, apparently bribing former invite player aim into playing for them.  Kind of sad, really.  I still think they will either die in a couple weeks, or win finals.

#2 - The Westbrook Effect

Madoff & coughy
Daffodil
Mortowski
JOE
Kevin Durant

With kuwumbu jungle 2 forfeiting tonight, it might be some time before we see them tested against a high open team (other than malicious activity next week, if that counts).  If anybody in the eastern conference could put a dent in maL, though, it would be this proven group of fraggers.

#3 - No Johns

demoted & Juicy
Simulate
Huck
powergamer
cookiejake

No tough matches this week means no changes in No Johns' rank.  Watch for the results of their week 3 matches with Egg Salad Dressing and kawaii sexu desu desu (formerly Lolipoppers) to possibly impact their position.

#4 - Egg Salad Dressing

Keith & Jynx
FrozenFlarez
Brimstone
TheYellowCellphone
Pizza

Rolled low-mid team Enterprenerds so hard that they died, but no real notable games from week 2.

#5 - Not Around Bears

zacice & Saturn?
mostlybacon
Morin
orbit
Differ

It sounds like they might need a replacement for Saturn, so once again their ranking hinges on finding a suitable scout.  For now they look as strong as ever, with their 5-4 golden cap loss to ESD in week 1 being their only dropped rounds of the season.

#6 - Ie Sparkle Gang black

barycenter & duckrider32
Megaboy
THE BILLDOZER
Megalinx
Brulee

Performed well against malicious activity (who ran dingo on demoman instead of xrod) despite the score, even winning most midfights.  As they play two top 16 teams next week, we will be able to confirm whether they belong at this high of a ranking.  They should be able to out-dm nearly everybody in open, but that doesn't always translate into wins.

#7 - Bote 6v6

bo4r & Spades_Slick
Vipa
Brick
Rightjustify
Rogue

Vipa may as well be pocket soldier the way they play, but it has been working, netting them a decisive win over Shutup Mom im Bowflexing and an undefeated start to the season.

#8 - Hurricane Watch

The_savior & RainofLight
edy
nessie
averted
Queyh

Two 5-1 wins over teams on the upper end of mid open doesn't tell us a lot, but their scrims still look convincing and they haven't been making many mistakes in matches.  Watch for the results of the upcoming match with Ie Sparkle Gang black to determine which half of the top 16 they belong in.

#9 - WuT dUdE

bwelp & Uber
Polar
Lysol
Fahren
TranslucentFeces

Starting roamer Polar played excellently this week after returning from vacation.  Dropping 2 rounds to mid-high team Slightly Nervous Doggos may or may not be an issue for them, but two more wins on their record looks good.

#10 - Cant Predict Stupid

Duke Em & SD/negasora
Pot
Smarty
GGen
Highclass

Beat mid open team TacoHut eSports much more convincingly than kawaii sexu desu desu, and were tied 2-2 against Enterprenerds playing 5v6 (before finishing out the game easily when SD showed up).  Overall showing marked improvement from last week, and scout negasora is an excellent addition to their roster.

#11 - Milters

Jaker & yuker
Ziozma
Sybran
Lights
CallumSLG

Starting the season 4-0 without dropping a round (even if it's against low open teams) looks good, and though they have yet to be properly challenged I know from scrimming them that they are an excellent team.  All of their players are strong, particularly Sybran who is en route to being one of the best pockets in open.

#12 - kuwumbu jungle 2

dippidy & link
fatswimdude
Crasian/?
indecency
Fog

They played with backups Newspeak and Emperor in one match this week and forfeited the other.  It's unclear whether they will survive much longer, not having found a permanent pocket soldier yet either.  If they got their roster sorted out they could be a very good team, but it looks less and less likely every week.

#13 - Shutup Mom im Bowflexing

Dreamboat & Apt
Def
Tino
fdwdo
Dr. Shdwpuppet

Still having consistency problems, with team members expressing discontent at their performance vs Bote 6v6 in this week's 5-2 loss.  I believe they show plenty of potential for improvement, but it had better come soon.

#14 - Every Villain Is Lemons

Troopo & flick/emperor?
Reflecto
Faust
kV
Fabulous

With two easy 5-0 victories over low-mid teams this week, it's still difficult to tell exactly where they fit in the top 16, besides that they are very close in skill to (now dead) teams ChibiBoutique and Cool Club.  Their ESEA page says they've picked up emperor, who will be an excellent addition to the team, but he is not yet rostered - if it's true, expect to see them rise in the rankings.

#15 - kawaii sexu desu desu

Br0nze & Space Ghost's Coffee
Zabi
Bacon
Hearts
Raisin

The team formerly known as The Lolipoppers struggled this past week, picking up two 5-4 victories, at least one of which shouldn't have been so close.   This is despite Br0nze noticeably performing better than in week 1.  If they don't play well against No Johns and Bob-omb Squad next week, they are at risk of dropping out of the top 16.

#16 - Bearly Getting By

Fen & Mag/Wari/Sandblast?
Pinto
Wari/Sandblast?
Arsie
Oihguv

They seem to be in the middle of a shakeup, with new addition (backup?) Sandblast spending half of their 5-4 loss to kawaii sexu desu desu on pocket soldier.  They also forfeited their most recent match.  Still a team with potential to go far, but only if they sort out their lineup and don't die.

Just outside top 16:
Bob-omb Squad, Slightly Nervous Doggos, whoever wins between Oi Vey and Bring Back The Funk next week.

Some upcoming matches to watch:
Not Around Bears VS Cant Predict Stupid
Ie Sparkle Gang black VS Hurricane Watch
Egg Salad Dressing VS No Johns
Shutup Mom im Bowflexing VS Bearly Getting By
Oi Vey VS Bring Back The Funk
Bob-omb Squad VS kawaii sexu desu desu
malicious activity VS The Westbrook Effect
+ many more, busy week for most mid-to-high teams
